The Bachelor of Science in Business (BSB) undergraduate degree program is designed to prepare graduates with the requisite knowledge, skills, and values to effectively apply various business principles and tools in an organizational setting. The BSB foundation is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practical application, while examining the areas of accounting, critical thinking and decision-making, finance, business law, management, marketing, organizational behavior, research and evaluation, and technology. Students are required to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the undergraduate business curricula through an integrated topics course. Special emphasis is placed on critical business threads throughout the program, which include: globalization, innovation, ethics, technology, diversity, and e-business.
The communications major is designed to develop the knowledge and skills for effective communication within the business environment. The communications specialization focuses on the development of professional competencies and values in such areas as public relations, communications theory, communication law and ethics, mass communication, media and advertising, and electronic publishing.
This undergraduate degree program has a 60 credit Required Course of Study: 34 credits are allocated to the Bachelor of Science in Business foundation and 21 credits are allocated to the Business Communications major. Select courses have prerequisite requirements. In addition to the Required Course of Study, students must satisfy General Education and Elective requirements to meet the 120 (124 for Kansas) semester-credit minimums required for completion of the degree.
