School Location
Criminal justice majors are required to take Intro to Sociology & Social problems, Intro to Criminal Justice, Social Deviance, Criminology & Delinquency, choose between Police in Urban Society or Prevention & Corrections, Social Research Methods, Sociological Theory. Students often take more than the one professional internship required. They also have a choice of other courses, including Drugs in U.S. Society, Criminal Justice Occupations & Organizations, and Pre-Law, Criminal Investigation & Forensics.

Criminal justice majors are required to take a senior research course, and many projects are connected with internships or academic service learning projects. Some past projects include: “Rural Gangs,” “Gun Control,” “Police Brutality,” “Implementing Community Policing in the City of Adrian,” “Inmate Education and its Effect on Recidivism,” and “Juvenile Delinquency and Prevention.”

Although some of our students choose to attend law school or graduate work after their bachelor’s degree, most criminal justice majors find jobs as police officers, juvenile residential treatment specialists, corrections officers, community crime prevention organizations or with not-for-profits such as the Boys & Girls Club.
