You may become licensed to teach in an early childhood setting by completing and early childhood education major. Course work leading to this license emphasizes all aspects of the child's physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth with special attention given to promoting a positive self-concept. This license prepares you to teach typically developing young children as well as children with mild to moderate disabilities and provides particular focus on the teaching of reading to young children. Extensive field experience in a variety of early childhood educational settings in both public and private arenas is provided throughout your university experience.
