The B.S. with an Elementary Education major program is pursued by students who want to teach children in grades K through six. Specific requirements need to be met before students are admitted into the program. Once in the program, students will be required to complete an Apprentice I semester which includes Language Arts in Childhood Education, Mathematics in Childhood Education, Children's Literature, and Music in Childhood Education. The following semester, the ELED Apprentice II Cohort Semester, brings knowledge and skills together in an authentic setting - An ESU Professional Development School (PDS). PDS is taken the semester prior to the Resident student teaching semester. Students will become certified once the student teaching semester is completed along with passing PRAXIS scores and they have a 3.0 or higher GPA overall in their major.
