The recent growth in the area of Biomaterials is driven by a series of breakthroughs in chemistry, physics and engineering, combined with advances in molecular biology. The Biomaterials Track is designed to equip a polymer student with the necessary background in chemistry, biology, and medicine, for future work in the emerging biomaterials and biotech areas. The interdisciplinary nature of the Engineering degree (major field: Polymer Science and Engineering) has lead to the majority of our students continuing with graduate and medical studies, after completion of the B.S. degree and makes them very competitive in industrial jobs, including those in the biotech arena. This is accomplished via the following outline of courses, technical elective sequences, and departmental research opportunities, which also fulfills the majority of the requirements for the MCAT exam. 129 hrs are required for graduation.
