The Family and Consumer Sciences program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. Course work regardless of specialization leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree. The professional program offered by this accredited unit includes specializations in 1) Family and Consumer Studies, 2) Food and Nutrition, 3) Dietetics, 4) K–12 Teacher Education, and 5) Textiles and Apparel. Course work synthesizes knowledge from the physical sciences, the social sciences, and the humanities, and applies this knowledge to an interdisciplinary study of various aspects of individual and family life.
