The Dietetics Food Administration Option of the Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutritional Sciences is an accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics that provides a wide range of learning experiences related to general nutrition, community nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, foods and foodservice management. At the completion of the program, students have earned a Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutritional Sciences and have completed the didactic requirements for becoming a Registered Dietitian.
Mission
The mission of the Dietetics Food Administration Option/ Didactic Program in Dietetics is to prepare graduates for careers in the field of dietetics by offering a high–quality undergraduate educational experience that provides for the development of the Foundation Knowledge and Skills required for Entry-Level Registered Dietitians as defined by the American Dietetic Association.
Program Outcomes
1. Graduates will be qualified for an appointment to a dietetic internship
2. Graduates will demonstrate knowledge and skills that meet the
expectations of Dietetics internship directors and/ or potential
employers.
3. Graduates will demonstrate oral and written communication skills that
meet the expectations of Dietetics internship directors and/ or
potential employers.
4. Dietetics & Food Administration Option/Didactic Program in
DieteticsGraduates will demonstrate critical thinking and problem
solving skills that meet the expectations of Dietetics internship
directors and/ or potential employers.
Program Curriculum
The Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutritional Sciences, Dietetics Food Administration Option, has a minimum requirement of 120 semester units. All university students are required to complete a minimum of 51 units of General Education. Major Requirements are those courses taken in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition. Additional Requirements include support courses such as chemistry, physiology, and psychology.
