Thus, majoring in German literature and cultural history will allow you to become acquainted in depth with an European cultural context that is immensely influential historically, intellectually, artistically, and politically. In addition to becoming experts in a prominent and diverse regional literature, culture, and intellectual history, you will also learn to approach regional and national issues from a wider European and, by extension, global perspective. At the same time, you will enjoy and greatly benefit from the German department’s small class sizes, the attention devoted to students by faculty and staff, and a wonderful and engaging departmental atmosphere.
