Prerequisites: G.E. Foundation A2, GRK 1A or permission of instructor. Second semester course in Classical and New Testament Greek; completion
of the fundamentals of Greek grammar. Emphasis on translation practice and composition skills. Background study: Greek culture and its relevancy to the modern world. G.E. Breadth C2.

10. The Rise of Rationalism: 5th Century Athens (3)
The origins of argumentation, logic, rhetoric, inductive thinking, and the role of literature in fifth-century Athens, as reflected in selections from Plato, hucydides, Euripides, and the orators. Discussions and lectures. Conducted in English.
