The purpose of this program is to provide the student with the prerequisite course work for entrance into graduate physical therapy school. However, because of the intense competition for admission and/or the delays which sometimes occur, it is the choice of some applicants to pursue alternative careers. Therefore, in addition to meeting entrance requirements for physical therapy school, this program is designed to provide concentrations in the areas of health and fitness which serve not only to support the health science career choices, but which also provide strong preparation in the developing areas of emergency medicine, physical therapy assistant, dental hygiene, pharmaceutical sales, cardiac rehabilitation and occupational therapy for students who choose not to pursue the original health science goal. This program also provides an excellent preparation for graduate study in exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor development, etc.
