Courses in the Cognitive Development concentration span research on various aspects of cognitive development across the lifespan, with a particular emphasis on infancy and early childhood. Students who fulfill this concentration will develop an understanding of the mechanisms, processes and current issues in cognitive development research and develop skills to evaluate developmental research in general. Several of the courses in the concentration explicitly connect basic research on cognitive development to applications in law, mental health, and developmental disorders.
The concentration in Cognitive Development is an excellent foundation for a career in law, teaching, publishing, or business as well as for graduate study in psychology, cognitive studies, and human development.
