The Management Program in the Dolan School of Business offers a dynamic, integrated approach to leadership, strategic planning and decision-making in business organizations. At the heart of the program is an Action Learning Module that combines a structured, supervised work experience with classes in which this experience is discussed in the light of management theory. The resulting innovative learning process adds a special intensity to your study of the theoretical aspects of management and a grasp of the concrete realities of the business world.

As a major in this program, you build on a foundation of real-world business experience and study relevant theory to understand behavioral, social, and environmental factors affecting organizational and managerial performance. Faculty in the Dolan School of Business can help you to make real connections between theory and practice because they all have experience in the business world in addition to their academic credentials.

Management majors study the theory and the practice of managing people and organizations. Emphasis is given to the:
  • Nature of the management function
  • Management of people
  • Relationship between business and society
  • Behavioral, social, and environmental factors that influence effective organization and managerial performance

    Students may choose one of three concentrations:
  • General management
  • Human resource management
  • Business and society
