Marketing encompasses all business activities required to bring goods and services to the ultimate buyer and to satisfy consumer needs and wants -- activities ranging from research and product development to advertising and sales. Marketers are analytical and creative, and because of their importance to their companies, they are well compensated. Their jobs are challenging and full of excitement.
There are two concentrations available for the marketing major. The Standard Marketing Program allows students to tailor programs for a wide array of career interests, including advertising, marketing research, sales management, or marketing management. The Integrated Marketing Education Honors Program features a real-world focus built upon strong links with the Chicago business community. All students can participate in our internship program, which places students with such leading firms as The American Cancer Society, Chicago Magazine, Leo Burnett, and United Airlines. The Marketing Club, Advertising Club, and the Professional Sales and Marketing Executives Association add valuable insight into the profession.
