Track I: Pure
The first track leads toward graduate work in the mathematical sciences. In
addition to the foundation requirements, students must take
* Math 331: Real Analysis
* Math 335: Abstract Algebra
* Either Math 309: Probability and Statistics or Math 360: Mathematical Modeling
* One of the following four courses:
o Math 316: Numerical Analysis
o Math 326: Operations Research
o Math 342: Geometry
o Math 380: Mathematical Physics
Students planning graduate work in mathematics should also take as many other
300-level mathematics courses as their schedule allows as well as course work
in French, German, or Russian.
