The Medieval Renaissance Studies program allows students to focus their course of study on the cultural, intellectual and political life of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
Study of the pre-modern world is by nature interdisciplinary. Therefore, the curriculum spans several disciplines and provides a foundation for understanding the interaction of cultures and religions from the 4th to 17th centuries. With the three major world religions rising in the Mediterranean basin, study of the medieval and early modern world is fundamental for understanding many of the current pressures that are again opening the world to a renewed internationalism. Students have the option to major or minor in Medieval Renaissance Studies.
