OVERVIEW OF THE MUSIC PROGRAM
The Music Department offers the Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Comprehensive (K-12) Music major under the Bachelor of Arts in Education Degree. The program of study provides a balance among music theory, applied music, music history and methods classes. The Department also provides a minor for the student with an avocational interest in music.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR MUSIC MAJORS
Students completing the B.A. degree in Music Education will be able to seek employment in primary or secondary schools teaching music. Fairmont State students will also be competetive with graduates of most colleges for graduate studies in music education, applied music or advanced scholarly music studies. The minor in music is a complement to the student’s major field of study and allows the student to present themselves to a potential employer as a liberally educated individual.
