The Didactic Program in Dietetics is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association. The program prepares the student to enter a dietetic internship, after which the registration examination may be taken to become a registered dietitian. Dietetics professionals work in healthcare facilities, sports nutrition and corporate fitness/wellness programs, community and public health nutrition programs, other government entities, university education, research, sales, marketing, restaurant management, food companies, school food programs, and private practice. Students not desiring to enter internships may work in many of the same fields. The required courses include the four basic areas of clinical nutrition, community nutrition, food science, and food service.
