The program in Physical Education leads to a Bachelor of Science degree and offers a choice of two concentrations: teaching or corporate fitness. The teaching concentration provides preparation for teaching at both elementary and secondary schools. Heavy emphasis is placed on personalized instruction so that students may develop individual talents and gain expertise in varied activity-based areas. Through collaboration with a number of local schools, students gain in-depth experience in the classroom and the gymnasium.
The corporate fitness program equips students to manage or develop fitness and exercise programs in small business or large corporate settings. Students are given scientific, managerial and practical experiences focusing on fitness testing, nutrition, training techniques, injury prevention and supervision. Seniors participate in a ten-week internship in a corporate fitness center.
