Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and the mind. An undergraduate degree psychology enhances career opportunities in many fields. The Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BS) programs at CSU prepare qualified graduates for success in: (1) seeking employment in careers that require a baccalaureate degree, and (2) gaining entrance into graduate or professional programs in psychology or related fields. The BA degree requires achieving competence in a foreign language. The BS degree requires additional laboratory science courses. Both degrees can be completed in four years of full-time study. However, neither degree prepares students for immediate employment as professional psychologists. A masters degree or higher is required for most professional careers in psychology.

Our program serves over 200 students majoring in psychology, as well as a number of students pursuing the psychology minor. Faculty represent a diversity of psychology’s subfields including clinical, cognitive, developmental, social, personality, biological, and behavior analysis. Faculty are eclectic in their interests, and work exceptionally well with one another and our students.

Our program has research laboratories and classrooms equipped to enhance the variety and quality of the learning experience. We provide opportunities for students to engage in individualized, hands-on, faculty-guided research and to present their results at professional conferences. We host a local chapter of Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology, as well as our own Psychology Club. Both provide additional educational and extra-curricular opportunities for our students. As a community of learners we believe in high standards, hard work, and having fun!
