The concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is designed to prepare students for a career as a Behavior Therapist/Applied Behavior Analysis Counselor. Behavior analysts help people learn new behaviors, increase or reduce existing behavior, and teach individuals when to use specific behavior in specific instances. Behavior therapists provide services to individuals, families, group homes, schools, mental health agencies, hospitals, and other agencies working with individuals requiring adaptive living strategies. Most commonly, individuals with the BCABA credential provide services to individuals with special needs, such as children with autism. Completing the three courses in Applied Behavior Analysis and three intensive, supervised practica, will qualify students to sit for the national certification examination sponsored by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Success on the examination will qualify students to be listed as professional behavior therapists on the national register.
