Within the major, students may take a concentration in Criminology. In addition to the requirements above, the concentration in Criminology consists of a number of relevant courses in sociology and political science. These courses replace and supplement the credit hours within the division, but outside of the major requirement for the B.A. and B.S. degrees. Specifically, students must take SO 351 (Social Problems), SO 413 (Deviance), SO 414 (Criminology), and PO 309 (Constitutional Law). In addition students must complete a criminal justice internship and take one of the following courses: SO 420 (Family Violence), SO 313 (Race and Ethnic Relations), or SO 314 (Social Inequality).

Our former students have pursued a variety of career paths. Some have gone on to graduate and professional school in areas such as Industrial and Organization Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Business and Law.
