The psychology major has three major objectives:
1. To provide a broad background in the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes.
2. To provide students with a set of core competencies (e.g., research skills, interpersonal skills) useful in a wide variety of careers and in their personal lives. A complete listing of these competencies can be obtained from the psychology department.
3. To prepare those students who seek a professional career in psychology with the basic knowledge and tools necessary for graduate study.
In addition, students are required to select one of the listed courses from each of the following content areas of psychology:

Area II: Social Psychology
Area III: Clinical Psychology
