-Degree Requirements-
The Bachelor of Science in Public Safety Management is a 44-credit, upper division, academic program designed for adult learners who wish to relate their practical career experience to management theory. The program has a special emphasis on the knowledge and skills essential for the management of resources in public and private safetyorganizations. Providing a comprehensive, yet practical background in social and management sciences, the program provides coursework in the following areas: writing,management and leadership, personnel management, organizational behavior, business ethics, MIS, statistics,and marketing.

The core curriculum is structured sequentially, with students taking one course at a time in the designated sequence. At the end of the course sequence, students are required to complete a Capstone Course which integrates materials from all of the previous coursework through a focus on leadership strategies in a public safety organization.Students obtain the Bachelor of Science in Public Safety Management degree by using the management core to build upon other traditional and non-traditional learning experiences. To meet the needs of law enforcement and fire service personnel who work irregular hours, the courses in the public safety management major are offered in the College of Business on-line environment,as well as in a classroom setting.
