During your tenure at Alderson-Broaddus College you will have the opportunity to shadow a certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and obtain valuable "hands-on" experience. This educational opportunity affords you the opportunity to see and participate in patient interaction. Student participation in a swimming class for mentally challenged grade school children provides a most unique learning experience. Similar field experiences are provided through most classes within the therapeutic recreation major.
The Alderson-Broaddus College campus provides students with many opportunities for practice and development of administrative and communication skills through student government, social and service clubs, forensics team, campus radio station, musical groups, drama and student publications.
