The Social Science Divisional Major is an interdisciplinary program designed for students who are interested in exploring an array of social sciences or who are seeking broad-field certification in Social Studies through the state department of education. There are three options: B.A. in Social Science, B.S. in Social Science (without teacher certification), and B.S. in Social Science (state approved teacher preparation program). In all three options, students must complete the college core, the thirty-six hour social science core, and twelve or more "supportive" hours, depending on the option.

Major requirements: 36 semester hours in the social sciences, in addition to HIS 101, PSY 107, and SOC 101 taken to meet the three-hour history and six-hour social science college core requirements. Of the thirty-six hours, excluding those used for completion of the college core, eighteen hours are at the l00 and 200 level, and eighteen hours are at the 300 and 400 level.

The following specific courses are required:
  • ECO 205, 206
  • Any three-hour GEO course (GEO 320, 328, 340)
  • HIS 102, 211, 212, 335, and 327 or 336
  • POS 115, and two of the following: 323 or 325
