Sociology is the study of social life, social change, and the social causes and consequences of human behavior through the investigation of the structure of groups, organizations, and societies, and how people interact within these contexts. Sociologists utilize a range of research methodologies to study such varied aspects of social life as the family, crime, gender, race and ethnicity, and religion and values in everyday life.
The sociology major is designed to prepare graduates for career opportunities in social work, politics, law, criminal justice, counseling and other service professions.
