The sport management major is intended for those who desire to play a leadership role within the ever-growing world of sports, without necessarily being an athlete. Flagler's sport management major prepares students for careers in all areas of the sports industry, including intramural, intercollegiate, and professional athletics; public and private sports clubs; the sporting goods industry; hotels, resorts, and travel businesses; and non-profit agencies. Our program has the distinction of being Florida 's first undergraduate program to be approved by the Sport Management Program Review Council—and remains one of only three such approved programs in the entire state.
What does the program at Flagler offer?
With a curriculum that emphasizes both sports management, Flagler students enjoy the advantage of taking course work within the business administration department. Thanks to Flagler's small classes, students are also able to collaborate extensively with their professors who have years of professional experience and contacts to offer. Flagler's St. Augustine location—midway between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach and within two hours of Gainsville and Orlando—is another tremendous advantage as it offers sport management majors easy access to a variety of hands-on learning opportunities. Flagler students find internships and build careers with organizations that range from local fitness clubs, the PGA at Sawgrass, the World Golf Village , and ESPN, to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Orlando Magic, and the Boston Celtics, to the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Association.
