OVERVIEW OF THE MAJOR IN THEATRE
The Department of Communication and Theatre Arts offers Bachelor of Arts degrees Theatre. Required courses introduce the student to the various areas of theatrical arts: design/tech, performance, dramaturgy, history and criticism, and theatre pedagogy. The B.A. in Theatre is a liberal arts degree which can be paired with any minor desired by the student. The Department also provides a minor for the student with an avocational interest in theatre. The program of study provides a balance between technical, performance, and dramaturgical areas of theatre.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR THEATRE MAJORS
Many of our students find employment throughout the country as actors, directors, stage managers, designers, and theatre educators. Students are given many opportunities at Fairmont State University that will prepare them for the entertainment industry, to be educators or to pursue careers in other fields. The experience students receive at Fairmont State gives them a competitive edge in applying for professional training programs, internships, and graduate study in areas such as drama therapy, arts management, educational theatre, acting, design or dramaturgy.
