The Department has the following goals, objectives and expected outcomes for its Bachelor of Fine Arts program:
  • Students will obtain and apply a knowledge of literary history and forms from a diversity of theoretical and cultural perspectives.
  • Students will read, think, and write critically in the methodologies of literary inquiry.
  • Students will acquire and implement skills in information literacy.
  • Students will develop and revise their writing with the goal of creating a body of original work in poetry, fiction, non-fiction or drama.

    Students admitted to the Bachelor of Fine Arts program in writing, literature and publishing must complete 56 credits in departmental offerings for the degree.
