ECE is the largest department in the College, and has the fastest growing undergraduate enrollments in Computer Engineering. While we admitted over 500 freshmen engineering students as recently as 1985, we now are controlling quality and admitting only 325 per class year. Of these, about 100 matriculate in ECE. Over time, we tend to attract another 25 or 30 transfers or undecided majors into our department. ECE graduates about 120 seniors.
The software engineering (SE) program is structured to teach students to design and program computers and computerbased systems to meet the needs of all areas of society. Students are trained to analyze and determine the needs of a system and apply engineering principles to create software and hardware solutions.
The main objective of the program is to produce practical design engineers. SE majors study modern programming languages and applications,...

Computer Science (CS) majors can use their electives to form concentrations in areas related to CS. The BS/CS program has 5 technical electives and 4 open electives and the BA/CS program has many more electives which gives the student considerable flexibility. This document lists a number of possible concentration areas together with courses in each area. Some of these courses are required for CS majors because they need at least some background...
There is great demand for skilled software engineers -- the people who develop complex, large-scale software systems. This major has been assembled from the ground up by professional software engineers to give you extensive training in the science as well as the techniques of software engineering. It will prepare you as no other undergraduate program can to succeed in this dynamic, rapidly evolving field.
