Bachelor degrees in Ecology: A program that focuses on the scientific study of the relationships and interactions of small-scale biological systems, such as organisms, to each other, to complex and whole systems, and to the physical and other non-biological aspects of their environments. Includes instruction in biogeochemistry; landscape and/or marine/aquatic dynamics; decomposition; global and regional elemental budgets; biotic and abiotic regulation of nutrient cycles; ecophysiology; ecosystem resilience, disturbance, and succession; community and habitat dynamics; organismal interactions (co-evolution, competition, predation); paleoecology, and evolutionary ecology.
The Ecology, Evolution, and Behavioral Biology major provides a broad background in biology with a focus on how organisms evolve and interact with their biological and physical environments.
The Environmental Science Major consists of 56 credits including a core set of courses (28 credits) and a plan of study (28 credits) chosen by the student in conjunction with his or her advisor. Students are also expected to attend at least one campus colloquium per month during their junior and senior years, unless they are participating in an off-campus program.
