Bachelor degrees in History, General: A program that focuses on the general study and interpretation of the past, including the gathering, recording, synthesizing and criticizing of evidence and theories about past events. Includes instruction in historiography; historical research methods; studies of specific periods, issues and cultures; and applications to areas such as historic preservation, public policy, and records administration.

The mission of the B.A. in History is to educate students in the areas of American, European, and world/non-Western history so that the students will be prepared to 1) pursue graduate or professional studies, 2) enter the teaching field, 3) enter a career in the public or private sector, or, 4) enter a career appropriate to a broad-based liberal arts education (not necessarily within history). |
