The Media Arts Program has areas of focus in new digital media.
Students in the new digital media area combine hands-on projects in electronics, fabrication, and programming with independent research and in-class discussion to explore emerging artistic practices where media, design, and technology intersect.

Design and construction of individual pieces of jewelry from various metals, semi-precious stones, exotic woods, and other materials. Deals with soldering, casting,supplemental techniques, and various methods of fabricating jewelry.
JEWELRY II Continues study in the design and construction of jewelry pieces. Students continue advancing their skills and knowledge of metals, stones, woods, and other materials.

The Jewelry/Metals program uses concepts and techniques derived from the properties of metal and 3 Dimensional Design. Courses focus on material exploration and the development of ideas in the form of objects and wearable art. The metals area provides a core course on basic techniques and historical information, which encourages an understanding of the philosophies underlying the use and production of metalwork.

The Jewelry/Metals program has two full time faculty members who teach six courses per semester. It thrives with about thirty undergraduate students and three graduate students. Jewelry Fabricating and Jewelry Casting, in which the students learn basic skills for making jewelry, functional hollowware and sculpture, are offered at the beginning level.
