About this School
Becker College is a college in Massachusetts with campuses in Worcester and Leicester.

History
The historic Leicester campus began as Leicester Academy in 1784 - the 19th oldest campus in the country and claims a charter signed by John Hancock. The Worcester campus was founded in 1887 by E.C.A. Becker. In 1974, then Becker Junior College and Leicester Junior College began working together to expand academic offerings and provide broader social and recreational opportunities for their students. As a result of their close cooperation, the two were formally consolidated in 1977 as Becker College. Today, Becker offers numerous bachelor degree programs as well as a few associate degree programs. Areas of study include nursing, veterinary science, criminal justice, and various business disciplines. Formats include traditional arrangements and accelerated options for non-traditional students. In addition to academic study, students participate in NCAA Division III athletics as well as a broad array of campus-based social activities. The college's student body has grown to a full-time enrollment of 1,200. The first perfect game pitched in the history of professional baseball occurred on what is now the Elm Park, Worcester, campus of Becker. On June 12, 1880, J. Lee Richmond of the Worcesters accomplished the feat beating Cleveland in a National League game. A marker commemorating the accomplishment is located on the quad off of Sever Street in Worcester.
