HSDM offers an interdisciplinary Ph.D. program entitled Biological Sciences in Dental Medicine (BSDM). This program was approved by the Harvard University Faculty of Arts and Sciences in 2001, and is the sole Ph.D. program offered by Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
The biological processes underlying dental medicine are diverse. The BSDM program provides scientific training across academic disciplines including genetics, immunology, microbiology, molecular and cell biology, and developmental biology. BSDM graduates are prepared to become leaders and independent investigators in dental and medical schools as well as industry.
