The mission of the doctoral program in higher education and organizational change is to prepare highly qualified graduates with the knowledge and skills that enable them to guide, influence and shape postsecondary institutions and to enhance the effectiveness of complex organizations through leadership, scholarship and service.
The Ed.D. program develops and strengthens the individual’s capacities for and an understanding of the key elements which characterize successful and productive leaders. Graduates can pursue positions in higher education, in institutional research and/or teaching. The program places special emphasis on leadership development, technology, critical inquiry, thinking and analysis, self-reflection and educational and organizational development. Students complete coursework that prepares them for the rigors and challenges of developing and implementing strategically-focused projects, managing personnel, implementing policy and orchestrating change within an organization.
