You will discover that the School of Information Systems and Technology provides an incredibly productive and rewarding educational experience for those seeking to earn their PhD A rigorous research focus is the hallmark of our PhD program. Students attending both full and part-time are expected to get involved in faculty supported research projects early in their PhD career. The knowledge attained through these projects can inform both the content and direction of your dissertation. As a PhD candidate you will find yourself in good company as we attract students from such elite institutions as Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Duke, George Washington and Yale. Our PhD graduates have gone on to careers in education, research and executive leadership with both local and international organizations.

Program Details
  • Composed of 19 courses for a total of 76 units
  • 3 competency courses that do not count towards the 76 unit requirement (Introduction to IS - equivalent to IS 303; Programming - equivalent to IS 313; and Univariate Statistics - equivalent to MGT 306)
  • Oral Exam
  • Comprehensive Screening Exam
  • Qualifying Portfolio
  • Dissertation
  • Up to 24 units of previous graduate level coursework can be transferred into the program
