The Doctor of Musical Arts degree is offered to selected qualified students as a recognition of high professional attainment in some branch of performance, in original composition, or in sacred music. Applicants who qualify for entrance to this program will major in one of the following areas:

* orchestral conducting

* piano performance
* piano pedagogy
* sacred music
* vocal accompanying
* vocal pedagogy
* vocal performance
D.M.A. degrees are not offered in percussion, guitar, harp, or saxophone.
