During their first year, students participate in three laboratory rotations and courses that provide the student with a broad-based education in biochemistry, cell biology and molecular biology. Students select a mentor who supervises their graduate training. They also take courses in the principles of cellular and molecular neuroscience, neuropharmacology, neuroanatomy and nervous system disorders, and statistics, plus a variety of electives. Original laboratory research, literature studies and seminar presentations are essential components of the program.
