The Sociology Department offers the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree. Students are admitted directly into the Ph.D. program and earn an M.A. degree in the process of completing the program. We do not admit students seeking a terminal M.A. degree.
The Ph.D. is an 84 semester hour program, including 30 hours of M.A. work (6 of which are thesis hours), and an additional 54 hours of Ph.D. work (12 of which are dissertation hours, 6 of which are teaching practicum hours).
