Requirements for the Ph.D. are as follows: one year of full-time residence; course work (cf. below under Course Work); proficiency in logic; proficiency in two foreign languages; preliminary comprehensive examination; doctoral comprehensive examination; dissertation; and oral defense of the dissertation.
