Mission:
It is the mission of Blackfeet Community College to provide transfer academic and relevant vocational programs of high quality that lead to appropriate associate degrees and certificates. Further, the college provides a core of general education instruction that results in identifiable student competence in written and oral communication, quantitative reasoning, critical analysis and logical thinking, with literacy achieved in the discourse or technology appropriate to the student’s program of study. Because of the changing nature of the demands placed upon members of the Blackfeet Tribe in today’s tribal society and beyond, the College maintains a strong commitment to providing opportunities for life-long education including basic skills development, high school completion, GED, continuing education and high quality community service programs. The one-year Building Trades Certificate program is designed to provide a student with a comprehensive education for students who seek to acquire occupational skills and understanding of Building Trades Occupations. In addition, the program will equip students with basic construction skills enabling employment and/or continued training in specific trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, drywall application and masonry. The one-year certificate also provides a core of study for the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Construction Technology. Blackfeet Community College’s Apprenticeship Program accepts these credits toward the student’s journeymen’s license.
This curricula is designed to preserve the cultural tradition and heritage of the Blackfeet People relative to Building Trades by integration of traditional concepts in the course of study.
