The graduates of this program develop basic office skills and knowledge with training on microcomputers, word processing software, and desktop publishing software. This program is not designed to transfer to a senior institution.
Desktop publishing workers use computers to design artwork and publications to call attention to productions, services, etc. They create publications for newspapers, magazines, advertisements, books, television, exhibits, billboards, and package designs. They may create an entire newspaper page, complete with artwork and graphics, exactly as it will appear in print. Their duties may include word processing, proofing for errors and clarity, printing, and scanning. They often do a variety of work in an office environment. Creativity is a plus.
