Combining a state-of-the-art machine shop and welding applications, Dodge City Community College’s Manufacturing Technology program prepares students for careers in a manufacturing setting. Training areas include traditional machine shop and welding machines, as well as CNC machines, hydraulics/pneumatics and robotic technology.
DCCC Manufacturing Tech has recently accelerated its program into the high tech computer area with the purchase of a computer controlled plasma cutting system. The Plasma CAM brand system can used for projects that range from metal art to race parts. Using computer controlled electric motors to guide the tip, the plasma cutter will cut whatever has been drawn or imported into its software, producing projects only limited to one’s imagination. With basic computer knowledge, individuals taking the class will leave with the skills to find a job or by purchasing one of these inexpensive machines, they can become their own boss.
