The Business Office Support Specialist one-semester certificate is designed
for the student who is interested in employment in a professional office. The
certificate contains options for students to take advanced level courses or
introductory level courses. There is a pathway for current employees who wish
to upgrade their skills to stay competitive and competent. There is also a pathway
for persons preparing for their first position in an office.
This program is designed to prepare students with information management and
office skills including communications, integrated computer software applications,
personal information management systems, basic accounting skills, and document
preparation. Software packages will include Microsoft Office, Outlook and QuickBooks.
Proficient keyboarding skills and computer skills are necessary for successful
completion of this program. Course work in entry-level keyboarding is available
through the college for students to meet this requirement.
The complete program is applicable toward a one-year certificate Office Systems
Support, twoyear Associate in Applied Science degree in Office Technologies,
Administrative Assistant and Applied Technical Studies.
Successful completion of the program qualifies a student to apply for a Certificate
in Office Technologies Business Office Support.
