According to the US Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook, "employment of pharmacy technicians is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2012."

Pharmacy Technicians are trained to process prescriptions and medical orders; compound sterile and non-sterile products such as IV solutions, suspensions, ointments, and creams; and assist with over-the-counter drugs and health care products. They also perform retail duties to include pricing, inventory control, billing and preparation of patient profiles.

You will find employment in hospitals, healthcare agencies and community pharmacies where you will process prescriptions and medical orders, assist with over-the-counter drugs and healthcare products, and perform retail duties. Graduates will also be prepared to sit for the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination sponsored by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.

Admissions Requirements
  • High school transcript or GED certificate
