The Dental Hygiene Program prepares the student to work as a licensed dental professional, oral health educator and clinician who, in conjunction with the dentist, provides preventative, educational and therapeutic oral care to patients.
Note: The Dental Hygiene Program is a twophase curriculum. Phase I courses are general education courses provided at ATC and will result in the award of a Pre-Dental Hygiene Certificate from ATC. The student must complete Phase I courses and maintain a GPA of 2.5 before being considered for Phase II. To enter Phase II, the student must provide acceptable entry test scores (SAT or ACT), apply to Midlands Technical College, and complete a pre-admission interview.
Students will be required to participate in offcampus training in working clinical facilities therefore students will need reliable transportation, since assigned clinical sites are off campus.
