Course content for First Coast Technical College's Refrigeration Technology program: History and concepts of refrigeration air conditioning; matter and heat behavior; fluids, pressures, and refrigerants; employability skills; entrepreneurship; safety; use and care of tools and accessories; operate refrigeration servicing and testing equipment; basic electricity and electrical components; residential control system heating/cooling; piping, tubing and fittings; evaporators, compressors, condensers, and metering devices; accessories; mechanical/electronic filtration and air handling fans; codes and standards; air conditioning start-up and service problem analysis; heating start-up, check out and operation; basic air conditioning; refrigeration cycle/diagrams; fossil fuel heating-servicing and testing equipment; refrigeration-piping materials and fabrication; refrigeration pipe sizing and troubleshooting; electrical components/motors; solid state electronics; valves and regulators; sensing devices/heating controls; commercial and engineered control systems; psychometrics; central station systems; install, maintain and repair residential air conditioning systems; basic air conditioning refrigeration skills; soldering and brazing; basic refrigeration fundamentals; basic electrical skills; installation and servicing of air conditioning refrigeration electrical systems; heat gain/heat loss; design skills; communication, math and science skills.
