The hospitality industry is one of the largest, fastest-growing industries in the world. At the Clarion County Career Center, the Tourism & Marketing Services (TMS) program offers everything that students will need to begin a career in the hospitality industry.
TMS students will participate in both classroom learning activities and a hands on hotel internship. The classroom lessons will include: lodging management, rooms division, housekeeping management, leadership management, marketing and sales, food and beverage service, and choosing a hospitality career. In addition to having theory lessons, students will also run the Career Center’s break cart and work in the Career Center’s warehouse. The hotel internship is an on-going internship that students will participate in during all three years of the TMS program. Students will spend one day per week working at a local hotel. Each week students will be assigned to work in a different department of the hotel to receive hands on training. They will work in the following departments: housekeeping, laundry, front desk, maintenance, set-up, food & beverage, and front office.
Upon completion of the program students will have the opportunity to become certified Rooms Division Specialists (Level 1 and Level 2 certification). Certification is from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute and recognized nationally.
Following graduation, students are ready to begin their hospitality career or continue their education at a college or university.
