Certificates/Less-than-1-year Certificates in Computer and Information Sciences, General: A general program that focuses on computing, computer science, and information science and systems as part of a broad and/or interdisciplinary program. Such programs are undifferentiated as to title and content and are not to be confused with specific programs in computer science, information science, or related support services.
Four career path programs are designed to enable students to seek employment at the program's completion. If your future plans include transferring to a four-year college/university, please check with your advisor and the Student Support Services Center as soon as possible. Successful completion of one of the these programs qualifies a student to apply for a Certificate in their respective program.
This certificate requires a minimum of 30 units. This program provides entrylevel training to the person entering the computer field and focuses on the operation and programming of computers with an emphasis on business applications.
This certificate requires a minimum of 31 units. A maximum of 6 credit/no credit units will be accepted for any of these certificates. A minimum of 9 units of certifi cate course work must be completed at AVC. (Credit earned by examination will not be included in these 9 units.)
